Ingredients
Cake Batter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 t. salt fine table salt
- 5 T. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 t. baking powder
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 t. vanilla
- 3/4 cup chopped pecan can use walnuts
Cake Topping
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F - In a bowl combine flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 5 T. cocoa powder, salt and baking powder. Add vanilla and milk stir until smooth, add nuts and pour into an ungreased 9"x 13" glass baking pan.
- In a separate bowl mix together the 1/3 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 cup brown and 1/2 cup granulated sugars, then slowly stir in the boiling water. Pour over the batter carefully,
- Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean in the cake layer part. Serve slightly warmed with ice cream or whipped cream.
