Stuffed Shells and Italian Sausage
Cheese filled shells smothered in sauce and Italian sausage, perfect for both meat and non-meat lovers alike!
Instructions
In a large bowl mix the ricotta cheese, 2 cups of mozzarella and 1 cup of parmesan cheeses along with the spices, parsley and egg - mix well and place in refrigerator. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil and cook shells according to box instructions. In a skillet fry the sausage pieces until just cooked and drain on paper towels. When the shells have cooked, drain and rinse and allow to cool slightly to the touch. Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly spray a glass 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray. Add 1 1/2 cups of sauce to the bottom of the pan. Stuff shells with cheese mixture using enough shells to fill the pan. Add the sausage pieces and cover the top of the shells with sauce. Top with remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. Bake for approximately 35 minutes or until the top is melted and slightly brown.
