Sweet and Salty - a perfect combination
Instructions
In a heavy bottomed large pot or dutch oven heat 2 inches of oil to 350°F.
Separate biscuits and cut a hole approximately 1" diameter (eyeball) in the center of each biscuit. **Tip- the cap from the oil bottle works great.
Fry biscuits in hot oil until golden brown on one side and then flip to the opposite side and fry until golden brown. Cook in batches of 4 (depends on pot size) and remove using tongs to cooling racks placed on paper towel lined baking sheets.
While donuts are cooking and cooling, make the icing. Mix together in a medium bowl the powdered sugar, melted butter, maple syrup and vanilla extract - whisking until smooth.
Dip donuts in icing and return to cooling racks - add the chopped bacon to the top before the icing sets.
